January 2008
Hi all,
Well I drew the short straw and have been put in charge of writing the first newsletter for the New Year. Firstly I would like to welcome everyone back and I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and New years and are ready to hit 2008 with vengeance.
Some of you may or may not know that I have entered myself into a competition aptly named Tough guy. It is a 12mile assault course in Wolverhampton forest which includes all matters of insanity and is as much a test of your body as it is of your mind. I have been training for this for the last 3 months and it is now down to the last 3 weeks of my periodisation. My training has included lots of running (road and cross country), lots of body weight exercises (body row, push-ups, Burpees) and lots of early morning bike rides in the rain but now there is an end in sight as the competition is on the 27th of Jan. I am competing with 10 other nutters and am hoping to finish the course in 2.30 hours.
I must admit that I am looking forward to the challenge and god willing I will complete it without any serious injury.
Below is the Tough guy web page so that you can all have a look and see what obstacles lie in wait for me.
There is fundraising for those that would like to donate but I am not really stressed about it.
On a different note I would like to take the opportunity to welcome Jarrod to the Invigorate team. I’m sure you will al have the chance to train with him in due course and I hope you will all make him feel welcome.
Well watch this space for the result of Tough guy.
Cheers,
Kennedy
