Muscle and Fat Burning – Why lifting weights is so important
If your goal is not only to lose weight but to keep it off. One of the keys to permanent weight loss is to increase muscle mass so that you burn extra calories all day long, even while sitting at your desk. This is because even at rest muscles need energy to survive.
So every pound of muscle you can add to the body burns about 35 extra calories per day. That adds up to about 1-2kg (3-4lb) of fat per year! Add to this that muscle is only 1/8 the size of fat at the same weight. That’s makes lifting all those weights worth while. -Adam
